Naneen Ekedal

Early one morning when I was three, my mother found me sitting under a flowering bush, drawing it. Albeit with some fits and starts, I've been drawing and painting ever since. When I am making art I am in the moment - contented, excited, and enlivened.

I majored in art at San Francisco State University and attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. I've been a weaver and embroiderer of tapestries and I owned a fabric store specializing in hand-woven natural fiber textiles from around the world.

I am especially drawn to the richly varied decorative art forms in the dwellings, shrines, furniture, clothing, and everyday objects of many cultures.

Currently I do decorative wall painting for businesses and homes in northern New Mexico and northern California.
