Ana Borzha
I was born in Rhode Island, we moved to Pittsburgh when I was seven. I went to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and received a Bachelor of Applied Arts, majoring in Painting and Ceramics in 1964. I received my Masters in Social Work in 1969, also from the University of Michigan. I traveled and studied art in Europe in the years between. I practiced as a family and group therapist until 1977 when I left the profession to pursue the arts; theatre, music, and painting.
I came to Taos in the summer of 1978, became involved with theatre immediately, and then moved here that fall. I have been here since, working on theatre, my music and painting. My first one woman show was in 1979, and I have had several one woman shows since, all in Taos. Now my singular focus is painting, which is imbued with my music and theatre by its very nature. My paintings have rhythm, texture, melodic energy, and they express a magical reality which comes from a deeply spiritual place. That allows for endless stories, and they are all unique. My Paintings are my expressions of life experiences that are spiritual in nature, and seek to touch the spirit, the soul, and the heart of the viewer.
