Green Potter

"Clay was my first love and after many other forays into the field of art, I have returned to clay and am getting a lot of satisfaction. I love the immediacy of the clay, the physical nature of the work, and the mind-body connection. I can go into the studio with a new idea and try it out right way. Whether it’s a new throwing technique, a slab idea, or making beads, I can start working out the problems right away.

"The versatility of clay lets me express my various interests. I have several running themes in my art that I explore. I prefer to work in small series or batches, exploring the theme, then returning to it later when inspiration has struck again. This keeps my work fresh and unique, and I always get a surprise when I open the kiln!"

How I'm a Green Potter
1. Recycle all of my clay scrap.
2. Use an energy efficient kiln and fire to cone 6.
3. Recycle newspapers for Raku reduction.
4. Have a low carbon footprint because it is made locally and not imported across the ocean.
5. Recycle plastic bags for drying my green ware.
6. Only fire a full load in my kiln.
7. Use towels and sponges to clean my studio, never paper towels.
