Recycled Metals Artist

Hello, my name is Greg Litts. I am a native New Mexican, born and raised in the Land of Enchantment. Inspired by the views and vistas of the Sandia Mountains and along the Turquoise Trail, my art is created using found metal objects. I mostly use recycled farm equipment and tools, so no two pieces can ever be identical. Because of the fact that my sculptures are made of recycled materials they are not only unique, but also eco-friendly.

Hillbilly Hill began about 20 years ago. I started with my father buying and selling antiques. Years into the antique business, as my scrap piles grew, the need to organize and clean up became apparent. It was in the cleaning up of the scraps that the pieces of metal fell together, and I saw, what appeared to be an odd looking bird. I got out the welder and put it together. From that point on I began seeing things in the many piles of rusted farm equipment and scrap metal piles that to many people may look like junk; but to me they are merely works of art waiting to come to life. The rest, as they say, is history.

Over the past 12 years of creating the metal sculptures I have gained many local, as well as national and international customers. I have done various shows over the years. Some examples of these are the Recycle Santa Fe, Sculptors Dominion International, street shows in New York City and many small garden and local private shows. One of my peices has been on display and is in the permanent collection of the New York State Museum in Albany, New York. My art is award winning, but the true award, for what I do is seeing the look on my customer's face as they view it, and knowing that it is my art that made them smile.
